Georgia Dugout Club Launches Southern Collegiate Softball League for Summer 2026

The Georgia Dugout Club is proud to announce the creation of the Southern Collegiate Softball League (SCSL), a groundbreaking collegiate summer league designed to expand competitive opportunities for softball athletes across the state. The league is set to officially debut in June 2026 and will feature 4–6 teams based in the Metro Atlanta area.

A New Summer Platform for College Softball

The SCSL was created with one clear mission: to keep college-level softball thriving locally during the summer months. Modeled after the success of summer leagues in baseball, the SCSL will provide a structured and competitive environment for current collegiate softball players, as well as incoming signees and commits (in accordance with NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA participation rules).

Teams will compete weekly in head-to-head matchups at ballparks throughout the Atlanta metro area, giving players the chance to stay sharp, develop their skills, and showcase their talent against high-level peers. By keeping athletes local during the summer, the league also seeks to strengthen community ties and spotlight Georgia’s deep pool of softball talent.

“Georgia has long been recognized as one of the nation’s premier softball states. The SCSL gives our collegiate athletes a chance to compete in a summer environment without leaving home, while keeping fans engaged and growing the game statewide,” said Georgia Dugout Club President Matt East.

Gauging Player Interest

While the league prepares for its inaugural season, the SCSL is currently gauging interest from potential players. To take part in the planning process, athletes are encouraged to fill out the official Player Interest Form.

Completing the form is not a commitment to play.

It is simply a tool for the league to measure interest levels and gather information as it finalizes teams, schedules, and locations.

Building the Future of Softball in Georgia

The launch of the SCSL marks another milestone in the Georgia Dugout Club’s mission to promote and grow the game of softball and baseball across the state. With initiatives that span from high school recognition programs to coaching clinics and now collegiate summer opportunities, the GADC continues to be a driving force in shaping the future of the sport in Georgia.

By creating a league that keeps top-level players competing year-round, the SCSL not only benefits athletes but also provides fans, families, and local communities with another chance to celebrate softball at its highest level.
